The last big town before the mountains

Penrith sits on the eastern bank of the Nepean, about 55 km from the Sydney CBD, and it runs like a small city of its own. People come in from Glenmore Park, Cranebrook and Emu Plains for the shops on High Street, for Westfield, for TAFE on Henry Street and for appointments at Nepean Hospital in Kingswood. Distances out here are long and the buses thin out at night, so a lot of Penrith trips end up in a car.

We pick up from houses in Jamisontown and South Penrith, the apartments in Thornton on the north side of the line, the streets around the river, and the hospital campus. Sedans and SUVs take up to four passengers. A maxi taxi seats 7 or 11, which is handy when a family is flying out together or a group is heading into Parramatta for a game.

Every quote is fixed before the trip starts, and it already includes tolls and GST, so a run down the M4 and WestConnex costs what we said. Keep our Penrith taxi number in your phone: 02 7265 1227. We answer 24/7, and you can pay by card, Cabcharge, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash.

Down by the Nepean

River days, regattas and the walk you only want to do one way

Penrith's riverfront is where a lot of weekend trips start or finish. The Yandhai Nepean Crossing, opened in 2018 beside the old Victoria Bridge, is part of the 6.4 km Bridge to Bridge loop of the Great River Walk. Plenty of walkers get to the far end and decide they have done enough. Call us from Tench Reserve or the Emu Plains side and we will come and get you.

Further north, the rowing course built at Penrith Lakes for the Sydney 2000 Olympics still hosts regattas. School racing starts early, so parents often book a car for the morning drop at Gate A. The whitewater course on McCarthy's Lane in Cranebrook brings in paddling groups who need a maxi for people and gear.

  • Pickups from Tench Reserve and Nepean Avenue
  • Early regatta drop-offs at Penrith Lakes

Where to wait for your Penrith taxi

Big car parks, a busy bus interchange and a hospital with a lot of vehicle gates. Here is how we usually find each other.

Aerial view of the Nepean Hospital campus in Kingswood with its curved main buildings and car parks

Nepean Hospital, Kingswood

The campus has patient drop-off and pick-up zones with a 10-minute limit. Emergency Department traffic comes in off Somerset Street through Gate 7; Buildings C and D are reached from Parker Street (The Northern Road) southbound through Gate 2. Tell us the building on your letter and we will use the right gate. Waiting on a discharge? Call when the paperwork is done.

Penrith station

The South Plaza faces Westfield across the bus interchange, with the taxi rank and kiss and ride on that side. Coming from Thornton, use the Northern Plaza entrance off Lord Sheffield Circuit instead.

Westfield Penrith

The centre is at 585 High Street, with car park entries on High Street and Jane Street. Loaded up with bags? The Station Street entry is the one nearest the taxi rank at the station.

Western Sydney University

The Kingswood campus is entered from Second Avenue or O'Connell Street, and Werrington South from the Great Western Highway. Give us the building number.

Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre

On High Street beside the Council Chambers. After a show at The Q, book the ride home before curtain up.

Panthers on Mulgoa Road

The leagues club at 83 Mulgoa Road is a regular late pickup. Agree a spot away from the main doors and the traffic moves quicker.

Maxi cabs, baby seats and wheelchair access in Penrith

Hospital visits, school sport and big family flights are a large part of the work out here. Mention what you need when you call: baby seats are fitted on request, and our wheelchair accessible vehicle should be booked ahead.

Penrith to Sydney Airport

Two airports, two very different drives

Mascot is the long one: 60 to 75 minutes off-peak, most of it on the M4 and WestConnex. For an international departure, Penrith passengers tend to leave three and a half hours before the flight, more on a weekday morning.

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport at Badgerys Creek, due to open to passengers in late 2026, is a 20 to 30 minute run down The Northern Road. Tell us which airport and terminal when you book.

Landing? Put your flight number in the booking and we time the pickup to the actual arrival. Details are on our airport taxi page.
