Getting around Rooty Hill by cab
Rooty Hill is a railway suburb with a very large club attached. Rooty Hill Road North and Rooty Hill Road South meet at the station and carry most of the local traffic: north to Plumpton and Oakhurst, south to Minchinbury, the Great Western Highway and the M4. Woodstock Avenue heads west to Mount Druitt and gives you the M7, and Francis Road crosses the tracks towards Eastern Road and Doonside.
That puts Rooty Hill a few minutes from two motorways, which is great for airport runs and awkward for anyone without a car. We collect from homes on both sides of the line, guests at the Novotel at West HQ, theatre crowds, and players and parents at the Sportspark on Eastern Road. Sedans and SUVs seat four, and a maxi taxi seats 7 or 11.

Yes, there is a hill
The Rooty Hill on Eastern Road
The suburb takes its name from a real hill, now a heritage-listed reserve on Eastern Road. Governor Philip Gidley King set up a government stock depot at its foot in 1802 and borrowed the name from a hill on Norfolk Island that had been hard to dig because of all the tree roots.
Walk to the top and the Blue Mountains line the horizon. It is a nice spot for a family photo, and a short drive from the old buildings on the main roads: the Imperial Hotel from 1890, the Pioneer Memorial Church from 1891 and the School of Arts, built by residents in 1902 and 1903.

The station has a taxi rank, a kiss and ride area and lifts from the upgrade. West HQ is about a 10 minute walk away if you are coming by train.
The Sportspark
Gate C is at 81 Eastern Road. The park has several grounds, so tell us which one you are at and we meet you at the closest gate.
The Imperial Hotel
On Rooty Hill Road North, just north of the station. We pull up out the front, clear of the intersection.

Rooty Hill Road South puts you on the M4 within minutes, and from there the Mascot terminals are 50 to 60 minutes off-peak. For international flights, plan to leave about three and a half hours before departure on a weekday. Western Sydney International at Badgerys Creek, due to open to passengers in late 2026, is 30 to 40 minutes away.
