Rear-facing capsule
Newborns and young babies
A capsule holds a baby semi-reclined and facing the back of the car. It is the usual choice for the very first trip home and the months after, until your baby reaches the capsule's height limit.
Open 24/7 across Sydney
Tell us your child's age and weight when you book. We bring the right capsule, child seat or booster, fit it before pickup and show you the harness before we move off.
Bringing a newborn home, flying out of Sydney with a toddler or taking the kids across town to their grandparents: all of it gets harder when you have to lug a car seat around or hope the next cab at the rank has one. When you book a taxi with a baby seat through us, the restraint goes in before the driver sets off to collect you.
It suits the drive home from a maternity ward at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick, Westmead or Royal North Shore, an early start for one of our Sydney Airport transfers, or a Saturday of swimming lessons and birthday parties. Larger families can have seats fitted in a maxi cab, and parents juggling a pram and shopping can pair it with our door to door service.
Ages below are only a rough guide. Children grow at different rates, so the seat's own height markers matter more than a birthday.

Babies through to preschoolers
Starts rear-facing, then turns to face forward once a child is big enough, with a built-in harness the whole way. One seat covers a long stretch of the early years.
School-age children
Lifts an older child so the adult seatbelt sits across the shoulder and hips, not the neck and tummy. For kids who have outgrown the harness in a forward-facing seat.
Follow the manufacturer's height markers. Child restraints sold in Australia carry shoulder height markers that show when a child fits and when they are ready to move up. Keep children in each type of seat for as long as they fit. If your child is close to a change, tell us their height as well as their age and weight.
Go to online booking and tick Baby seat under the extras.
Write the age and approximate weight of every child who needs a seat, for example "capsule, 3 months, 6 kg" and "booster, 6 years".
Ring 02 7265 1227 any time, day or night, and we will take the details over the phone.
The restraint is installed before the car leaves to collect you, so there is no fitting on the kerb with a crying baby.
You know your child best. If the harness height or tightness does not look right to you, ask the driver to adjust it before the trip starts.
NSW law sets out which type of restraint children must use at different ages, and taxis have some rules of their own. Those rules are updated from time to time, so rather than repeat them here we suggest reading the current version from the source.
Look up child car seat and restraint rules on the Transport for NSW website before you travel.
