Taxi Service on the Upper North Shore

Leafy streets, long driveways and a Pacific Highway that crawls at school pickup time. Our Upper North Shore taxi service handles the everyday trips here: appointments at the San, a train from Hornsby, a ride home from Gordon after dinner.

We also take the longer runs, south to Sydney Airport and north up the M1 to the Central Coast, at any hour of the day or night.

Suburbs we cover on the Upper North Shore

Most of the Upper North Shore lines up along the ridge, with the North Shore railway line and the Pacific Highway running side by side from Roseville up to Hornsby. St Ives sits off to the east along Mona Vale Road, and the streets either side of the highway run down into bushland gullies.

The everyday trips

Appointments, school runs and stations

Much of the driving on the Upper North Shore is short, local and on a timetable. Here is how we handle the common ones.

Hospital and medical trips

Sydney Adventist Hospital, Wahroonga

Locals call it the San. It is a large campus on Fox Valley Road with several buildings, so tell us the building or clinic named on your letter and we will aim for the closest drop-off.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital

On Palmerston Road, close to Hornsby station. Visiting someone, seeing an outpatient clinic or heading home after a procedure: call us once you know when you'll be ready and we will come back for you.

Need a little more help, such as an arm to the front door or someone to carry the bags from the pharmacy? Ask for our door to door service when you book.

School runs

Families at schools such as Knox Grammar in Wahroonga and Pymble Ladies' College in Pymble can set up regular trips by phone. Younger siblings coming along? We fit the right child seat or booster on request.

Hornsby and Gordon stations

Hornsby is where North Shore, Northern and Central Coast trains meet, and Gordon station sits right on the Pacific Highway. On trackwork weekends, a taxi to the station you need can beat the replacement bus.

Wide waterway winding between steep bushland ridges in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
Weekends and days out

Bushland on one side, Westfield Hornsby on the other

Few parts of Sydney have a national park this close to the back fence. Ku-ring-gai Chase runs along the northern edge of the area, and Bobbin Head Road winds down from North Turramurra to the picnic areas and marina at Bobbin Head.

If you are heading down for a walk or a family lunch, agree your pickup time and meeting spot before you set off. Phone reception in the valleys can be patchy, and it is much easier to sort out the ride home while you still have signal.

Closer to home, Westfield Hornsby sits right beside Hornsby station, and the smaller shopping villages at Lindfield, Gordon, Turramurra and St Ives are all an easy local hop. For a group day out or a birthday dinner, a maxi cab keeps everyone together, and a special event booking suits a formal or a wedding.

Local road knowledge

The Pacific Highway, Mona Vale Road and the way north

The Pacific Highway is the spine of the Upper North Shore, and it rarely runs freely for long. Traffic lights, school zones and turning traffic around Pymble and Gordon slow it down, so for trips south to Chatswood or the Lower North Shore we time pickups with that in mind.

Mona Vale Road links Pymble to St Ives and carries on through Terrey Hills to the Northern Beaches. It is a busy road at school times, and the easiest way to the coast from here.

Heading to the Central Coast

The M1 Pacific Motorway starts at Wahroonga, so for most addresses here the Central Coast is closer than you might think. NorthConnex runs underground from the M2 to the M1 at Wahroonga, which keeps a lot of through traffic off Pennant Hills Road.

Trips to Gosford, Terrigal or further up the coast are transfers outside Sydney, and you book them the same way as any other ride. Return bookings are welcome.

Typical travel times

Off-peak estimates by road. Peak hour, school traffic and roadworks can add a lot.

Common questions on the Upper North Shore

Yes, we run 24 hours a day. Book the day before if you can, and add the building or department from your admission letter in Special Instructions so the driver heads to the right part of the Sydney Adventist Hospital campus.
