When one maxi taxi beats two cars

Splitting a group across two taxis sounds easy until one car is stuck behind a bus on Parramatta Road and the other is already at the airport with half the passports. A maxi taxi keeps people and luggage in the same place, and there is only one booking to keep track of.

Often it is the bags, not the head count, that decide it. Five adults fit in plenty of cars. Five adults with suitcases, a pram and a set of golf clubs do not. That is why we ask about luggage as well as passengers whenever someone books a maxi cab in Sydney with us.

Both vehicles are pre-booked, inspected and driven by the same licensed professionals who drive our sedans. Fares do not jump on a wet Friday night or the first morning of the school holidays, and you can pay by card, Cabcharge, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash. Compare every vehicle on our fleet page.

Taking the group further than Sydney

Maxi cabs are not only for airport runs. They work just as well for a day at the Hunter Valley wineries, a family weekend in the Blue Mountains or a trip up the M1 to the Central Coast. Everyone rides together, the driver handles the roads, and nobody draws the short straw as designated driver.

  • Book one way or return, with the pickup time for the trip home set in advance
  • Mention any extra pickups, such as friends in another suburb, when you book
  • Pay by card, Cabcharge, digital wallet or cash, or invoice a corporate account

Maxi cab questions

A maxi cab is a larger vehicle for groups and heavy luggage. Our standard sedans take up to four passengers and three bags. The Kia Carnival takes up to seven passengers and nine bags, and the Toyota Hiace takes up to eleven passengers and fifteen bags.
