1. About these terms
These terms apply to every trip booked with Silver Sydney Taxi ("we", "us" or "our"), whether you book through our website, by phone or by email. By making a booking, you accept these terms on behalf of yourself and everyone travelling with you.
We have tried to keep them short and in plain English. If something here doesn't make sense, please ask us before you book. How we handle your personal information is covered separately in our privacy policy.
2. Bookings and confirmation
Sending the online booking form is a booking request. Your trip is confirmed once we have contacted you, by phone, email or message, to accept it. If you haven't heard from us and your trip is coming up soon, please call us on 02 7265 1227.
We take bookings 24 hours a day, but a car can't always be available at very short notice. For flights, cruises, hospital appointments and early morning starts, book as far ahead as you can.
If you need a return trip, choose Return on the form and include the return details, or book the second leg separately.
3. Getting your details right
Please check that the information in your booking is correct and complete, including:
- the pickup and drop-off addresses, with unit numbers, building names or entrances where it helps
- the date and time, especially for trips just after midnight
- the number of passengers and the amount of luggage
- a flight number for airport pickups
- any child restraints or other special requests
- a phone number the driver can reach you on at the time of pickup
If details are missing or wrong, we may not be able to send a suitable vehicle, or the driver may not be able to find you. Changes to a booking should be made as early as possible by calling us.
4. Pickups and waiting time
Please be ready at the pickup point at the booked time. Your driver will wait a reasonable time and will try to call you if they can't see you.
For airport pickups with a flight number, we plan around the actual landing time rather than the scheduled time. Please contact us once you have collected your bags so we can direct you to the pickup point.
If the driver has to wait beyond a reasonable time, or you ask the driver to wait or make extra stops along the way, waiting time charges may apply. If we can't reach you after reasonable attempts, the booking may be treated as a no-show.
5. Cancellations and no-shows
Plans change. If you need to cancel, please give us as much notice as possible so we can let the driver know and offer the car to someone else.
A cancellation charge may apply if you cancel after the driver is already on the way or has arrived, or if nobody turns up for the booking. If we have to cancel your trip for any reason, we will tell you as soon as we can.
6. Fares, tolls and airport charges
Your fare depends on the trip, including the distance, the time, the vehicle you choose and any extras you request. If you would like a fare estimate before you travel, ask us when you book.
We do not use surge pricing, so our fares don't rise just because demand is high, such as in wet weather or after a big event.
We give you a fixed quote before you travel. It includes road tolls on your route, any access or pickup charges set by airports or other venues, and GST. If you add stops, extra waiting or a change of destination on the day, we will tell you how that changes the price before we go ahead.
7. Payment
You can pay by:
- cash to the driver
- credit or debit card
- Cabcharge
- Apple Pay or Google Pay
- corporate account invoice, for approved account holders
Payment is due at the end of the trip unless you have a corporate account with us. Businesses interested in an account can read about our corporate transfers.
8. Child restraints
If you are travelling with a baby or young child, request a capsule, child seat or booster when you book, and tell us your child's age and approximate weight in Special Instructions. See our taxi with baby seat page for more.
The driver fits the restraint before pickup. A parent or carer should check the harness or seatbelt is adjusted correctly for their child before the trip starts. If you bring your own restraint, you are responsible for making sure it is suitable and in good condition.
Child restraint rules in NSW depend on your child's age and size. For the current rules, visit Transport for NSW.
9. Passenger conduct
To keep everyone safe and comfortable:
- every passenger must wear a seatbelt or be in a suitable child restraint
- no smoking or vaping in the vehicle
- please ask the driver before eating or drinking
- treat the driver and the vehicle with respect
A driver may refuse or end a trip if a passenger is abusive, threatening, dangerously intoxicated, or behaving in a way that puts anyone at risk.
If a passenger damages the vehicle or leaves it needing more than normal cleaning, for example after spilling a drink or being sick, reasonable repair or cleaning costs may be charged.
10. Luggage and vehicle capacity
Please tell us how many passengers and bags you have so we can send a vehicle that fits everyone safely. As a general guide:
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan | 1 to 4 | Standard luggage |
| SUV | 1 to 4 | Extra boot space |
| Kia Carnival | 1 to 7 | 1 to 9 pieces |
| Toyota Hiace maxi | 1 to 11 | 1 to 15 pieces |
Actual capacity depends on the size of each item. Prams, surfboards, bikes, golf bags and other bulky items need to be mentioned when you book. The driver may decline to carry luggage that can't be loaded safely or would stop passengers wearing their seatbelts. For larger groups, see our maxi cab service or browse the fleet.
11. Lost property
Please check the seats and boot before you leave the car. If you think you have left something behind, contact us as soon as possible with your booking name, the date and time of the trip and a description of the item.
We will check with the driver and let you know if it has been found, then arrange a way to get it back to you. We will do our best, but we can't be responsible for items left in a vehicle.
12. Delays beyond our control
We plan every trip to arrive on time, but some things are outside our control, such as heavy traffic, crashes, road closures, special events, severe weather, flight changes or a vehicle breakdown.
If something like this affects your trip, we will try to let you know and, where needed, arrange another vehicle. For flights, cruises and other time-critical trips, please allow a sensible buffer when choosing your pickup time.
13. Our liability
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms takes away those rights.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as a missed flight, connection, event or appointment, caused by delays outside our reasonable control, or by incorrect or incomplete booking details. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with the date at the top, applies to bookings made from that date.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
16. Contact us
If you have a question about these terms, a booking or a problem with a trip, we would like to hear from you.
