Taxi Camden: 24/7 Cabs and Maxi Taxis in the Macarthur Region

Camden still feels like a country town, 65 km from the city, with a main street to match. It also means long trips to the airport and a river that can cut the road. Book a local cab any hour, with a fixed quote before you leave.

Getting around Camden without the car

Surveyor-General Thomas Mitchell planned Camden around two crossing main streets, with John Street running up the hill so the view ends at St John's Anglican Church, consecrated in 1849. That old centre is compact and easy on foot. Almost everything else is a drive: the shopping centre at Narellan, Camden Hospital on Menangle Road, the growing estates at Spring Farm, Elderslie and Oran Park, and the hospital and university at Campbelltown.

A lot of our Camden work is exactly that. Older residents getting to appointments. Families leaving at dawn with a car full of bags. People heading home from a long lunch in town who have sensibly left the car at home. Sedans and SUVs carry up to four, maxi cabs seat 7 or 11, and we can fit baby seats on request.

You get a fixed quote first, with tolls and GST included. Pay by card, Cabcharge, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash. Call 02 7265 1227 for a car now or to book ahead.

Pickup points

Places we collect from in and around Camden

Some of these are easy. Others, like the airfield or the showground on show day, are worth a quick word when you book.

Argyle Street

Camden's main street, with cafes, pubs and the heritage-listed post office building at number 135. Street parking fills on weekends, so name the shop or corner and we will stop as close as the kerb allows.

Onslow Park on show weekend

The Camden Show has run since 1886 and takes over Onslow Park, 191 Argyle Street, every autumn (in 2026 it ran on 20 and 21 March). With the showground full, we set a meeting point on a nearby street and hold to it, so you are not hunting for us at the gate.

Camden Hospital

65 Menangle Road, near St John's. Outpatient clinics and rehabilitation bring regular trips. Tell us the clinic so we come to the right entrance.

Camden Airport

No airline flights here: it is flying schools, the Australian Air League, gliding and ballooning. The entry is Aerodrome Road, off Macquarie Grove Road in Cobbitty. Balloon flights leave early, so book the night before for a dawn start.

Camden Park House

Elizabeth Macarthur Avenue, Camden South. Still a private family home, it opens for its spring weekend when the wisteria along the verandah is out. Book your ride home when you book the trip out, since plenty of visitors leave at the same time.

When the Nepean rises

Cowpasture Bridge, and the way around it

Argyle Street crosses the Nepean River on the low-level Cowpasture Bridge, which opened in 1901. When the river floods, it goes under. It was badly damaged in 1975 and cut off in March 2022, and each time the main road into town closes with it.

The fix was built between 1971 and 1973: the Macarthur Bridge, a long concrete bridge carrying the Camden Bypass across the river flats on a flood-free line. On wet days we route around town that way and allow the extra minutes in the pickup time, so a flight or an appointment is not the thing that gets missed.

Maxi cabs, baby seats and wheelchair access in Camden

Big groups for the show, grandparents with the grandkids, and passengers who need a wheelchair accessible vehicle for hospital visits. Say so when you book, and for the accessible vehicle give us as much notice as you can.

Camden to Sydney Airport

This is one of the longer airport runs we do: 60 to 75 minutes off-peak, and more if you meet the M5 at its worst. For a morning international flight, talk to us about the pickup time rather than guessing, and add extra if it has been raining hard enough to close Cowpasture Bridge.

Flying home? Book with your flight number and we set the pickup around your landing, not the timetable. See our Sydney Airport taxi page for how it works.
