Taxi Ryde: Local Cabs, Maxi Taxis and Airport Transfers

Ryde has no train station of its own, so a lot of trips here start with a phone call. We collect from Top Ryde, the streets off Victoria Road and down by the river on Church Street, at any hour, with the fare agreed before you get in.

  • Top Ryde City pickups
  • Tolls and GST included
  • 1 to 11 passengers

Two main roads and a lot of side streets

Most of Ryde hangs off two roads. Victoria Road runs across the suburb from Gladesville to West Ryde, then on to Parramatta. Devlin Street climbs up from Church Street and the river to Top Ryde, where it carries on north as Lane Cove Road towards Macquarie Park. Between them are streets of brick bungalows, the newer apartment blocks around Top Ryde, and the old stretch of Victoria Road where Addington House has stood since about 1800.

The closest trains are at West Ryde and Meadowbank, and the Metro is a bus ride away in Macquarie Park. Buses do the main roads well. A taxi does everything else: shoppers with a full boot from Top Ryde City, patients going home from Ryde Hospital, parents collecting kids from swimming, and a steady run of early starts for the airport.

Sedans and SUVs take up to four passengers. A maxi cab seats up to 11, and we fit baby seats when you ask for them. Staff heading between Ryde and the Macquarie Park offices can go on corporate account trips. There is no surge pricing, and you can pay by card, Cabcharge, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash.

Common trips out of Ryde

Off-peak estimates by road. Victoria Road is slow in both peaks, so if you have a flight, an exam at the university or a hospital appointment, give us a little extra notice.

Where to wait for your cab in Ryde

Say which of these you are closest to when you book. It saves a lap of the block, and on Devlin Street or Victoria Road a lap can take a while.

Top Ryde City

Buses load on Devlin Street out the front, so we don't stop there. Most shoppers are collected at the Blaxland Road entrance. Coming out of the cinemas? The Tucker Street side is often closer, so mention it.

Addington House, a long sandstock cottage with a hipped roof and lavender along its verandah, on Victoria Road in Ryde

Victoria Road heritage strip

Addington House at 813, the 1837 police station at 808 and Willandra at 782 all sit along here. If you live nearby, a side street is the easier meeting spot; pulling up on Victoria Road holds everyone up.

Meadowbank ferry wharf with its curved roof over the Parramatta River, Ryde Bridge in the distance

Meadowbank ferry wharf

A few minutes from Ryde at the bottom of Bowden Street. Coming up the river on the F3 with shopping or luggage? Book a car to meet the boat at the end of Bowden Street.

Ryde Hospital

On Denistone Road. The hospital is being rebuilt, and parking and some entrances have moved during the works. Tell us if you are at the main entrance or at emergency.

Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre

At 504 Victoria Road, the pool that hosted water polo at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Swim school and carnival pickups are fine; give us a name to ask for.

Ryde Park

Bounded by Blaxland Road, Princes Street and Argyle Avenue. After Saturday sport, pick the corner you will walk to so the driver is waiting on the right side.

Across the river

Stadium nights start on Church Street

Sydney Olympic Park sits just across the Parramatta River. From Ryde the drive is over Ryde Bridge to Rhodes and along Homebush Bay Drive, usually 15 to 20 minutes when there is no event on.

With no train station in Ryde, a booked car there and back beats juggling a bus and a train change with a crowd. See our event transfers for concerts and finals.

  1. 01

    Book the return early

Everyone leaves at once. A booking made before the game is easier to place than a call at full time.

  2. 02

    Agree a meeting point

Event traffic plans close roads inside the park. We will suggest a pickup a short walk from your gate.

  3. 03

    Bring the group

A maxi cab for up to 11 costs one booking and gets the whole row home together.

Maxi cabs, baby seats and wheelchair access in Ryde

Mention these when you book. Heading to a Ryde Hospital appointment in a wheelchair? Book the wheelchair accessible vehicle ahead so it is free for your time.

Ryde to Sydney Airport

Getting to the terminals from Ryde

Off-peak, a taxi from Ryde to the domestic or international terminals takes 35 to 45 minutes, normally along Victoria Road, over the Gladesville Bridge and into WestConnex. Victoria Road heading towards the city is slow on weekday mornings, so a 7am flight means leaving well before the traffic builds.

Flying home? Put your flight number in the booking and we time the pickup to when you land. The full details are on our Sydney Airport taxi page.
