A railway junction with Rookwood on one side and Olympic Park on the other

Lidcombe is 15 kilometres west of the city. The shops cluster around the station, where John Street and Joseph Street carry most of the traffic, and the suburb reaches from Rookwood Cemetery in the south to the Carter Street apartments beside Sydney Olympic Park in the north.

We pick up commuters who would rather skip a change of trains, families flying out with a maxi cab full of luggage, and mourners heading to a service at Rookwood. Sedans and SUVs take up to four, maxi cabs up to 7 or 11, and baby seats are fitted on request.

Quotes are fixed before you travel, tolls and GST included. Pay by card, Cabcharge, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash.

Pickup points

Six places we collect from every week

Name the spot and the driver heads straight there. For anywhere else, a street number and a landmark is enough.

  1. Lidcombe station

The entrance is on Railway Parade. The station has a taxi rank, a kiss and ride area and a commuter car park, and staff are on duty 24 hours.

  2. John Street

The restaurant strip by the station. Tell us the restaurant and we wait outside rather than circling.

  3. Lidcombe Shopping Centre

At 92 Parramatta Road, with a big Korean grocer and food hall. Good for a boot full of shopping.

  4. Rookwood, East Street gate

The Lidcombe entrance to the cemetery. Tell us the chapel or section and we drive in rather than stopping at the gate.

  5. Carter Street and Olympic Park

Apartments on the park edge, and pickups after concerts and games. On event nights we agree a meeting point clear of road closures.

  6. Church Street

Lidcombe Oval, the Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre and St Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church are all along this street.

Rookwood Cemetery

Getting to a service at Rookwood without the worry

Rookwood sits on Lidcombe's southern side and has been in use since the 1860s. It covers about 286 hectares and holds around a million burials, which makes it the largest necropolis in the Southern Hemisphere. The grounds are run by more than one trust, with Anglican, Catholic, Jewish, Orthodox and many other sections, several chapels and a crematorium.

That size catches people out. The walk from Lidcombe station to the East Street gate takes 15 to 20 minutes, and some sections are a long way further in. Other vehicle entries are Weeroona Drive off Centenary Drive on the Strathfield side, and Rookwood Road via Victoria Street.

  • Give us the chapel, section or trust name from the funeral notice
  • Book the trip home at the same time, so nobody is left waiting
  • A maxi cab keeps a family together, and our wheelchair accessible vehicle can be booked ahead for older relatives

Lidcombe to Sydney Airport

One car, no change of trains at Central

By rail you would change trains with your bags. By road it is 30 to 40 minutes off-peak, usually on the M4 and WestConnex, and the toll is in the quote.

Allow extra on weekday mornings, and about three hours before an international flight. For arrivals, give us the flight number and we time the pickup to the landing. Details are on the Sydney Airport transfers page.

Lidcombe taxi questions

Yes. Transport for NSW lists a taxi rank and a kiss and ride area at the station on Railway Parade. If you book with us, we meet you in the kiss and ride.
