Mona Vale is where Pittwater Road meets Mona Vale Road, which makes it the starting point for nearly every long trip off this end of the peninsula. It is also a long way from the airport.
So we plan properly. Tell us where you are going and we set the pickup time and the fare before the car leaves.
Book a taxi in Mona Vale
Locals call it Mona, and the village is compact: Pittwater Place on Park Street, the library, the cafes along the side streets, and Pittwater RSL up at 82 Mona Vale Road. The B-Line from Wynyard finishes here, and buses come and go from the depot on Darley Street. What Mona Vale does not have is a train line, so anyone with luggage or an early start leans on a car.
Our regular Mona Vale jobs are airport transfers, trips to hospital appointments in Frenchs Forest or St Leonards, golf days on Golf Avenue and people heading round to meet the ferry at Church Point. Dogs and cats travel with us when you mention them at booking (see our pet friendly taxi page), and older passengers who need a hand to the door can book our door to door service.
Sedans and SUVs seat four. A maxi cab takes 7 or 11, with room for boards and bags.
Off-peak estimates by road. On a school morning, Pittwater Road can add a great deal before you have left the Beaches.

Pickup points
A clear meeting point matters more here than in the city, because the next car is not just around the corner.
The Urgent Care Centre at 18 Coronation Street is open around the clock for minor injuries and illnesses. Rehabilitation and outpatient visitors should name their building so we pull in at the right door.
The main shopping centre in the village. We meet on Park Street, and a driver will help load the boot after a big shop.
Number 82. After dinner or a show, book a return time or ring when you are leaving and we will meet you out the front.
The rock pools at the northern end of the beach are off Surfview Road, which is the easiest place to meet. Wet swimmers and sandy boards are fine, just tell us.
Coming off the ferry from Scotland Island, Lovett Bay or Elvina Bay? Book with your ferry time and we wait near the wharf on McCarrs Creek Road.
A four-ball with clubs needs an SUV or a maxi. Say how many bags when you book.
Worth knowing
Mona Vale Hospital changed in 2018, when most acute services moved to the new hospital at Frenchs Forest. We still get asked which one to go to. The answer depends on what you need, so tell us when you call and we head to the right place.
About 5 minutes from the village
A 24 hour Urgent Care Centre for minor injuries and illnesses, plus rehabilitation, palliative care and community health clinics. Handy for a cut that needs stitches or a sprained ankle from the beach.
20 to 25 minutes by road
The main hospital for the peninsula, on Frenchs Forest Road West, with the emergency department and most of the acute services that used to be at Mona Vale. Surgery, admissions and many specialist appointments end up here.
In a medical emergency, call 000 for an ambulance. A taxi is for getting to appointments and getting home again.
Grandparents visiting for the holidays, a wedding party heading to the water, a child who needs a booster. We fit capsules, seats and boosters on request, and our wheelchair accessible vehicle should be booked ahead from this far north.
Plan on 60 to 75 minutes off-peak, and more on a weekday morning. There are two sensible routes: down Pittwater Road and over the Spit Bridge, or up Mona Vale Road and across to the motorways. Your driver picks based on the time and the traffic that day.
For a 6am international flight we would normally collect you at about 3am. That sounds brutal, but the roads are empty and the fixed quote is the same.
Arriving home, add the flight number and we time the pickup to your landing. Terminal details are on the Sydney Airport transfers page.
Book your airport runWe cover Newport, Avalon Beach, Bayview and the rest of Pittwater too. See the Northern Beaches taxi page for every suburb.
