Taxi Hornsby: 24/7 Cabs from the Junction

Two railway lines meet at Hornsby, the M1 starts just up the road, and the town centre is split in half by the tracks. We get you to the right side of it, or a long way beyond.

Booking a taxi in Hornsby

Hornsby is really two town centres with a railway in the middle. On the west side, Peats Ferry Road (the old Pacific Highway) has the traditional high street: shops, the war memorial and the RSL at the southern end, then the court house and the old council chambers further along. Hornsby Park, the aquatic centre and the TAFE sit behind them.

The east side is newer. Westfield Hornsby takes up most of it, joined to the station by a footbridge, and the pedestrian mall where Florence Street meets Hunter Street has the big water clock designed by Victor Cusack. The library is close by.

Which side you are on matters for a pickup. The bus interchange and Station Street are west of the station. George Street and the commuter car park are east. If you tell us which exit you are walking out of, the driver will be waiting on that side instead of looping round.

Coming off a late train with bags?

Call from the platform, not the street. Say west side (Station Street) or east side (George Street), and we send the car to that exit.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is on Palmerston Road, a short drive from the station, and many of the houses along that street are now specialist rooms. We run patients to appointments there and home again, and families to schools such as Barker College and Hornsby Girls High. For a hand to the front door afterwards, book our door to door taxi.

Sedans and SUVs take up to four. For six cousins and a pile of luggage, a maxi taxi seats 7 or 11, and we fit a baby seat or booster when you ask.

Trackwork weekend?

When buses replace trains on the Northern or North Shore line, a taxi to a station that is still running, or straight to where you are going, can save an hour.

Tell us the entrance you will leave from. The mall in front of the water clock is closed to cars.

Hornsby Park

From quarry pit to picnic lawns

For most of a century Hornsby Quarry was a hole in the ground behind the town centre. It is an old volcanic site, and after quarrying stopped it was partly filled with rock dug out for the NorthConnex tunnel, which made it safe to turn into parkland.

The first stage of Hornsby Park, the Crusher Plant Precinct off Quarry Road, opened in March 2026. It has the Southern Lookout over the quarry, lawns, picnic shelters and barbecues, with walking tracks and more lookouts planned for later stages.

For a family picnic with an esky and a pram, or grandparents who want the view without the walk from the station, book a car to Quarry Road and set the time for the ride home.

Maxi cabs, baby seats and wheelchair access in Hornsby

Hospital trips, school holidays and big family gatherings bring most of these requests. Our wheelchair accessible vehicle needs to be booked ahead.

Hornsby to Sydney Airport

Allow 50 to 60 minutes off-peak. From Hornsby the usual way is across to the M2 and through the Lane Cove Tunnel, then under the harbour. Weekday mornings are slow on that corridor, so we pad early pickups and leave nothing to luck.

Landing late? Give us the flight number and we time the pickup to when you actually touch down. More detail is on our Sydney Airport transfers page.
