Book a taxi in Manly

Harbour on one side, surf on the other

Manly is squeezed onto a narrow neck of land, with the ferry wharf on the harbour and the surf beach a few minutes' walk away down the Corso. Most of the suburb is walkable. The trouble starts when you need to leave it: the roads out run through Balgowlah or Queenscliff, and every trip towards the city has to cross the Spit Bridge.

That is where a booked taxi earns its keep. We pick up from apartments along North Steyne, the Fairlight streets above the harbour, hotels near the wharf and the guesthouses at Q Station on North Head. Sedans and SUVs carry up to four people, and a maxi cab takes up to 11 when the whole family flies out together.

Every booking gets a fixed quote with tolls and GST already in it. You can call us on 02 7265 1227 for a car now, or book ahead for a set time.

Where Manly passengers head

Times are off-peak estimates by road. A Spit Bridge opening or a Friday afternoon on Military Road can add a lot, so we build that into early pickups.

Pickup points

Where we meet you in Manly

A lot of central Manly is pedestrian mall, beachfront promenade or one-way street. A clear meeting point saves a phone call and a lap of the block.

Manly Wharf building with its clock tower lit up at dusk

Manly Wharf

The busiest pickup in the suburb. Tell us which ferry you are catching from Circular Quay and we will meet you on Belgrave Street or East Esplanade, clear of the bus interchange. Running late? Call and we move the pickup to the next boat.

North Steyne and South Steyne

The beachfront roads. North Steyne suits the apartments towards Queenscliff; for surf club functions near South Steyne we will agree the closest spot a car can stop.

Q Station, North Head

Guests staying or attending a wedding at the old Quarantine Station are collected from the reception area, not the gate at the bottom of the hill.

Brookvale Oval on game day

Pick a meeting point a short walk from the ground before kick-off. Pittwater Road is slow once the crowd leaves.

Fairlight and Balgowlah

Steep streets and narrow driveways above the harbour. Add your unit number and any gate code in the booking notes.

Ferry or taxi?

The ferry is lovely. It just isn't always the answer.

For a day in the city, the ferry from Circular Quay is hard to beat. A taxi makes more sense when you are carrying luggage for a flight, travelling with a pram and a toddler, or coming home late once the ferries have thinned out.

It is also the easier way to places the ferry does not reach: the airport, Chatswood, Macquarie Park or a hospital appointment in Frenchs Forest.

The right car

Maxi cabs, baby seats and wheelchair access in Manly

Manly books a lot of family holidays and group nights out, so these are the requests we hear most. Mention them when you book and the right car turns up.

Manly to Sydney Airport

Plan the airport run around the Spit

Off-peak, Manly to the domestic or international terminals takes 45 to 60 minutes. The Spit Bridge opens on a timetable to let boats through Middle Harbour, and traffic waits while it is up, so we set early pickups with that in mind.

For an international flight, most Manly passengers leave about three hours before departure. Coming home, add your flight number to the booking and we time the pickup to your landing. More detail is on our Sydney Airport transfers page.

  1. Book with your flight time

Give us the terminal, the number of bags and anyone who needs a child seat.

  2. We set the pickup time

Based on the hour, the day and the bridge, not a guess from a map app.

  3. Door to terminal

Your driver loads the bags in Manly and unloads them at the kerb in Mascot.
