Taxi Cabramatta: cabs, maxis and airport runs
Arms full of shopping from John Street, a flight to catch before dawn, or dinner in town and nobody keen to drive home. Call and a car comes to you, with the fare fixed before it sets off.
Cabramatta by cab
The heart of Cabramatta is a few compact blocks on the western side of the station. Freedom Plaza is a pedestrian mall between John Street and Arthur Street, and around it run arcades and lanes like Belvedere Arcade, Dutton Lane and Ingal Way, full of shops, eateries and cafes. People come from all over Sydney to eat and shop here, especially on weekends.
All that walking space is good for shoppers and hard on cars. Parking fills up, the lanes are narrow, and the plaza itself is off limits to traffic. So a typical Cabramatta booking is simple: collect me and my shopping from the edge of the centre and take me home. Say how many bags and whether there is a trolley or a pram, and we will send a car with room for it.
We also drive plenty of family trips. Grandparents to a temple visit or a doctor, kids to Cabramatta High, relatives to and from the airport. A sedan or SUV carries up to four. A maxi taxi takes up to 11, and baby seats are fitted when you ask. Fares are quoted upfront with tolls and GST included, and you can pay by card, Cabcharge, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash.
Round the clock
A day of taxi trips in Cabramatta
-
Early morning
Airport runs leave in the dark so passengers make morning flights out of Mascot. Hospital staff start early shifts at Liverpool and Fairfield, and we collect them from home before the first buses fill up.
-
Daytime
The shopping rush. Fresh produce, meat and dried goods, loaded at the Dutton Plaza car park or on Arthur Street. In between, older passengers go to appointments at Fairfield Hospital in Prairiewood or Liverpool Hospital.
-
Evening
Families head into town for dinner and friends meet at the Cabra-Vale Diggers club on Bartley Street in Canley Vale. We take groups home once the restaurants start stacking chairs.
-
Late night
Night flights land at Mascot and passengers want a car waiting, not a queue. Anyone who missed the last train from the city can call us from anywhere in Sydney for a lift back to Cabramatta.

Easy places to meet your driver
Freedom Plaza and the arcades are for walking, so we meet you where a car can pull over.
-
1
Arthur Street, outside the post office
The spot closest to the station. There is a taxi stand here in front of Cabramatta Post Office, which makes it handy if you are coming off the train.
-
2
Dutton Plaza
The council plaza and multi-storey car park on Dutton Lane. The easiest way in by car is Dutton Lane East from Hughes Street, and the lifts come out close to that entrance.
-
3
Park Road end of Freedom Plaza
If you are inside the plaza with heavy bags, walk out to Park Road rather than back through the crowd on John Street.
-
4
Cabramatta station, Railway Parade
The station sits on Railway Parade, with the shops on one side. Tell us which exit you are standing at so we are on the right side of the tracks.
-
5
Cabravale Park
Further up Railway Parade, near the 1922 bandstand and the Vietnam War memorial. A calmer spot for a pickup on busy weekends.
Festival days
Lunar New Year and the Moon Festival
Twice a year the town centre turns into one big street party. Cabramatta Lunar New Year has recently filled Freedom Plaza, Park Road and Arthur Street. The Moon Festival in September has taken over Railway Parade, Arthur Street, Park Road, John Street, Cabramatta Road West and Dutton Lane.
On those days a lot of the usual pickup spots are closed to cars. Book ahead, tell us you are coming for the festival, and we will set a meeting point outside the closures. For the trip home, a fixed time works better than calling in the middle of the crowd.
- Maxi cabs for the whole family
- Meeting points outside the closed streets
- Return pickups booked in advance
Maxi taxi Cabramatta, baby seats and wheelchair access
For three generations in one car, a new baby, or a passenger who stays in their wheelchair. The wheelchair accessible vehicle should be booked ahead.
Cabramatta to Sydney Airport
Long-haul flights, heavy suitcases
The international terminal is 35 to 45 minutes away off-peak. Overseas trips usually mean big suitcases, and four adults with that much luggage will not fit in a sedan. Tell us the bag count and we will send a maxi cab if it is needed.
For an international departure, plan to leave home around three hours before the flight, more on weekday afternoons. For arrivals, give us the flight number and we track the landing time. Details are on our Sydney Airport transfers page.
