The town where the Shire's railway splits

Sutherland sits about 26 km south of the city, and it runs on its station. Trains from town divide here: one line swings east through Caringbah to Cronulla, the other carries on south to Waterfall and the South Coast. People change trains, park in the multi-storey car park, and walk up Eton Street to the council offices, the library and the Pavilion theatre.

What the railway doesn't reach is where we come in. The streets drop steeply towards the Woronora River, the Princes Highway loops around the town centre via Acacia Road, and the last connection home can be a long wait. We collect commuters off late trains, families heading to the airport, and people visiting Woronora Memorial Park who would rather not drive.

Sedans and SUVs carry up to four. Bigger groups get a maxi cab with 7 or 11 seats, and our wheelchair accessible vehicle can be booked ahead. Quotes are fixed and include tolls and GST. Ring 02 7265 1227 any hour.

Pickups around Sutherland

The places we're asked to meet people most, and what helps the driver find you.

Sutherland station

The station sits on the Old Princes Highway, with a bus interchange and a multi-storey commuter car park beside it. The marked taxi zone is on Flora Street, across from the station, and it is the easiest place for us to pull in.

Coming up from Wollongong or the South Coast? Tell us which train you're on. If it runs late, call and we adjust.

Prince Edward Park, Woronora

The riverside reserve between Sutherland and the Woronora, used for boating and fishing. Agree a pickup time and spot before you go down.

The Pavilion, 30 Eton Street

Built on the old Sutherland Entertainment Centre site, and host to shows and citizenship ceremonies. Everyone leaves at once, so book the ride home before it starts.

Council offices and library, Eton Street

Close to the Pavilion. Eton Street is the simplest spot for a pickup, and a maxi cab keeps a family together for lunch afterwards.

Woronora Memorial Park, 121 Linden Street

A large site on the western edge of the suburb. Tell us the chapel or section, and we can wait or return at a set time after a service.

On Sutherland's doorstep

Into the Royal without leaving a car at the trailhead

Royal National Park starts a few minutes south of town. From the Farnell Avenue entrance at Loftus, the road winds down to Audley Weir on the Hacking River, where the old Audley Dance Hall now holds the visitor centre and a cafe, and the boatshed has hired out rowboats since 1893.

The park's gates lock at 8.30pm. That catches people out after a long day on the tracks, so we book park pickups well before closing, and we'll tell you if we think your plan is tight.

Walking the Coast Track? It runs 27 km one way from Bundeena to Otford and most people take two days. We can drop your group at Bundeena with packs and gear, and you finish at Otford station for the train.

  • Drop-offs at Audley, Bundeena and other park roads
  • Maxi cabs for walking groups with packs
  • A set pickup time agreed before you head in

Sutherland to Sydney Airport

The drive is 30 to 40 minutes outside the peaks, heading north on the Princes Highway and over the Georges River at Tom Uglys Bridge. By train it means changing at Wolli Creek with your bags, which is where most Sutherland travellers give up and book a car.

For a weekday morning departure, leave extra time: the highway through Kirrawee and Gymea fills quickly. For arrivals, put your flight number in the booking so the pickup moves with any delay.

See our Sydney Airport transfers page for terminal pickup details.
