Sydney Airport Taxi Fares: What You'll Actually Pay
If you have ever searched for Sydney Airport taxi fares, you have probably found a mix of metered rates, surcharge tables and forum posts arguing about which one applies to your trip. The short answer for anyone booking with us is simpler than any of that: we quote your fare upfront, before you travel, with tolls and GST already included.
How airport taxi pricing actually works
A standard Sydney taxi runs on a meter, which adds up hire charges, a per kilometre rate that changes with the time of day, and waiting time if you get stuck in traffic. That is the pricing model behind the "how much will it cost" search results you have probably seen. It is also the part that makes people nervous about a big fare climbing on the dashboard during a trip to or from the airport.
When you book with Silver Sydney Taxi, you skip that uncertainty. You tell us your pickup and drop off, we give you a fixed price before the car leaves, and that is what you pay. Traffic on the Eastern Distributor or a queue at the rank does not change the number.
What is included in your quote
- Tolls for the route we take, worked out in advance rather than added on afterwards.
- GST, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay.
- No separate waiting time charge if the trip runs long because of traffic.
For comparison, taxis from the Sydney Airport ranks to the Sydney CBD have run on a fixed fare trial since November 2025: $60 for a standard taxi, including wheelchair accessible taxis, and $80 for a maxi taxi carrying five or more passengers (figures as of September 2026). Other metered trips from the ranks add the airport toll. If you want to compare that against the metered fares a regular taxi runs on, Transport for NSW publishes the current maximum rates, along with airport toll rules, on its website. Sydney Airport also publishes its own current pickup and drop off information for each terminal, worth checking before you travel if anything about your trip is unusual.
Picking up at T1, T2 or T3
Every terminal has its own layout, and none of them are set up for a slow search for your car. When you book our Sydney Airport transfer service, we track your flight so the car is timed to your actual arrival, not the scheduled one. If you would rather skip the taxi queue altogether, our airport priority pickup has your driver waiting in the pickup area with your name, ready to load your bags and go.
Travelling with a group or extra luggage
A sedan comfortably seats up to four passengers with their luggage. Beyond that, or if you are travelling with a lot of bags, boxes or sports equipment, a maxi cab makes more sense than squeezing everyone in or booking two separate cars. Our maxi taxi service covers 7 and 11 seat vehicles, both with room for the luggage that comes with a full car of passengers.
Book ahead for a smoother pickup
We take bookings online or by phone, for today or weeks ahead. Booking ahead is what lets us track your flight, match the right vehicle to your group and have the car timed to your terminal instead of scrambling to find one on the spot. The earlier you book, especially for an early morning flight, the more certain your pickup time will be.
